Independently rated as Australia's most unique dive site The Stepping Stones are 17 massive coral towers rising 150 ft (50 metres) from the ocean floor to within centimetres of the surface. A paradise for divers of any level of expertise and a favorite of international underwater photographers because of the incredible diversity of corals and marine animals. It would not be possible to see all of The Stepping Stones if you spent a whole week diving here. Within this complex you will find The Maze, The Cluster of Four, The Coral Gardens and The Looking Glass

This unique tropical marine ecosystem attracts visitors from all over the globe. There are plenty of cruise operators and wonderful dive/snorkel tours from cairns. Although the Great Barrier Reef stretches more than 2000 kilometres offshore from Queensland, it is only at Cape Tribulation, just north of Port Douglas that the reefs come right to the shore and meets the tropical rainforests of the Wet Tropics. The Reef has over 1000 islands which are easily accessible from North Queensland and coastal cities like Cairns and Port Douglas.
